This town got its start way back in the 1800’s when it was a popular stagecoach stop along the routes between Nashville and Clarksville. By the year 1886 there were over 300 residents calling Pleasantview home. It quickly became the heart of tobacco factories and the tobacco market, as these people found ways to make a living in order to support their families. In 1870 the first actual school building was erected. Being the progressive town that Pleasantview has always been, they enjoyed the first telephone in 1910, electric by 1930, and a main water supply from a public well. Today there is a population of 4,164 people.
