Brief History


In its earliest years, the city was known as Bradley's Stand, and it mainly served as a rest stop for people traveling from Clarksville to Nashville or vice versa. Its name was changed to its current name in 1870, and a few years later, the city's first post office was built. By 1886, the community only had about 300 residents and relied primarily on tobacco. Today, there are just over 4,000 residents here as well as a broad range of businesses.

Parks and Recreation


When you choose to purchase properties here, you will have access to several lovely parks located within the community. Situated on Church Street across from the city's elementary school, you will find Balthrop Park. Balthrop Park provides many terrific facilities including a modern playground, a softball and baseball field, picnic pavilions, and public restrooms.
Another beautiful park near homes in the city is Cedar Hill Park located on Old Hickory Boulevard. In this park, you can enjoy covered picnic shelters, a disc golf course, shaded walking trails and a playground for children. Other parks you will discover nearby are Maryland Way Park on Maryland Way Road and Granny White Park on Granny White Pike.

Special events abound near this small Tennessee community, and a favorite event among the locals here is the Cruisin' and Groovin' Classic Car Show. Held once a month from May through October, this event features a large variety of classic cars and trucks, tasty food and drinks, and live music.
Another exciting event that is held near real estate in the city is the Cheatham County Fair, which takes place in mid-August. Highlights of the County Fair include thrilling carnival rides, fun games, a large selection of food vendors, and a demolition derby.
