Originally founded in 1828, the town has a current population of 7,489 people as of the 2010 census. It sits adjacent to the Fort Campbell Army Base and is easily accessed from other parts of Kentucky on U.S. Highway 24. If you enjoy country living at its best, then this is the town for you.

The Jefferson Davis Monument State Historic Site includes a 351 foot obelisk with an elevator inside that provides you with a birds-eye view of the countryside from the top. The Viceroy Butterfly Garden is a great place to go relax and unwind in a natural environment and the Land Between the Lakes Park gives you the chance to enjoy everything from horseback riding and hiking to exploring a planetarium and seeing a buffalo herd, one of the largest still remaining.

You can visit an old pioneer schoolhouse, built in the 1890's and said to have been a school for the first through eighth grades. The Fort Campbell riding stables offers you the chance to get out and enjoy horseback riding in the countryside and the local M B Roland Distillery provides tastings of its products, including "True Kentucky Shine."
